Images for final set...

These are the images I will be using for my final series...

Final Series...

So now I'm all prepared for tomorrows deadline, I thought it only right for me to upload my final series.

The video is made on Windows Movie Maker, and is just to give the series more definition of a flow.

The series isn't one of my strongest pieces of work and I'm not happy with that but it's not a brief I've overly enjoyed.
I just hope it looks good enough to get a pass. From now on in I'll be giving 100% on all future briefs

Rough Images

For my idea, I've now decided to go for an advertisement campaign. We've had a few feedback sessions now and I've got my images pretty much set.

These are the images I shot as a rough demonstration as to where I'm going with my idea...

For my final images I need to make sure I get the lighting the same in each image and also keep to shooting in either portrait or landscape. Also, I need to write the notes with a felt tip pen/marker.

I was also asked to think about how I word each note. I will have a rethink on each one as they were wrote just of the top of my head.

Tacita Dean 'Fernsehtum'

So today I went to the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester to see an exhibition by Jane and Louise Wilson and happened to come across this series by Tacita Dean, named 'Fernsehtum' 2001. The stills are taken from a 44 minute film shot inside the restaurant of the revolving Fernsehtum television tower. The series shows the waitress setting the tables in the early morning, the customers coming in and enjoying their meals and the daily routine of people coming and going, showing the sun rise, sit strong and then set as the night takes hold. The series finishes showing the waitress clearing away the tables after a day of business. Although this series isn't a circular narrative, it could have turned out to have been, going through the night to show the waitress setting the tables the next day.

Here's an example of how my series will work out... Hopefully!...

Remaining Independent...

This post contains just a few videos I've sourced online, documenting different ways people use notes to deal with memory loss.

Dementia Research

This post is the start of my initial research into Dementia. All information is courtesy of the NHS website:
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Dementia/Pages/living-with.aspx

This is the information that I'm looking for most, the points I've highlighted are what are most relevant to me.
Practical tips

  • keep a diary and write down things you want to remember
  • pin a weekly timetable to the wall
  • • put your keys in an obvious place such as a large bowl in the hall
  • • have a daily newspaper delivered to remind you of the date and day
  • put labels on cupboards or drawers
  • • place helpful telephone numbers by the phone
  • write reminders to yourself, e.g. put a note on the front door to take your keys
  • • programme people’s names and numbers into your phone
  • • install safety devices, such as gas detectors and smoke alarms

Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related symptoms) that is associated with an ongoing decline of the brain and its abilities. These include:
  • memory
  • thinking
  • language
  • understanding
  • judgement

My Idea...

Hello there,

So, in this post I'll give you a little insight into the idea I've put forward for my series of work. This is actually a revised idea, as my first one really wasn't that strong.

The idea would be to run a series on people who might possibly use notes in their day to day lives, for example someone who might have dementia, using the notes around the house to remind them of their daily routine.

I feel this idea works a lot better than my original, it has more of a meaning behind it, more reasoning and also it has a better field of research.

Welcome...

Ciao,

This is my first post as a second year student and is the first of many assignments I'll be posting over the next 8 or so months.

For this assignment I have to create a series of work which will be shown as a visual narrative with a circular view point, whereas the first image will ultimately be the last image.

This blog will contain my initial research, my starting points and my finished piece of work. So until next time, goodbye!!
